Learning Together: Black History and Cultural Heritage in Milwaukee
Dive into the powerful history that has shaped Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin on this meaningful day trip.
We begin at the America’s Black Holocaust Museum, where a docent-led tour will deepen your understanding of the rich legacy, resilience, and achievements of Black Americans. Through compelling exhibits and stories, you’ll gain important historical context that continues to influence our communities today.
Afterward, we’ll gather for a delicious soul food lunch — a perfect time to relax, reflect, and connect with fellow participants and our special guests.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Wisconsin Black Historical Society Museum for a guided exploration of exhibits and artifacts highlighting Wisconsin’s African American history. Our knowledgeable docent will help bring these stories to life and welcome your questions, encouraging thoughtful conversation about the experiences and contributions of Black Wisconsinites.
Enhancing our experience throughout the day, Professor Timothy Thering will share their insights, perspectives, and expertise in Black history. You’ll have the opportunity to engage with them during lunch and throughout the tour for deeper discussion and reflection.
Join us for a day of learning, dialogue, and discovery as we explore stories that are essential to understanding Milwaukee’s past and present. This tour includes coach transportation, admission to museums, thoughtful insights with our special guests throughout the day, a delightful soul-food lunch, and your dedicated Hollitude Guide.
